Finding the Gems in MAA Periodicals: A Convergence Scavenger Hunt

Abstract
The MAA publishes seven periodicals that serve a variety of purposes and address a variety of audiences: The American Mathematical Monthly, The College Mathematics Journal, Mathematics Magazine, Convergence, Math Horizons, FOCUS, and Math Values. This session will feature an online scavenger hunt that unearths some of the classroom resources available from Convergence, the MAA’s web-based, open-access journal for using the history of mathematics to teach the mathematical subjects typically studied at the secondary and undergraduate levels, such as algebra, combinatorics, synthetic and analytic geometry, trigonometry, probability and statistics, elementary functions, calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. In the time remaining after the game, we’ll highlight some of the ways the MAA’s other journals, magazines, and blogs can also support your professional development and engage your students.
Using Data to Support Equity-Minded Institutional Change

Abstract
In this workshop, participants will explore ways to use data to support equity-minded institutional change. Examples of programmatic, departmental, and institutional change efforts and action plans will be provided. Participants will be given tools, resources, and time to develop action plans of their own.
